1. Justin Bieber Arrested for DUI in Miami
Justin Bieber was released from jail Thursday afternoon after being arrested and facing a judge on suspicion of DUI and other charges in Miami Beach, Fla.
Authorities confirmed to ET that the 19-year-old pop star was released from custody around 2:05 p.m. Thursday Miami time. Police who processed Bieber after his arrest said the pop star admitted in statements that he had been drinking, smoking marijuana and had a prescription medication in his system at the time he was stopped by officers while allegedly drag racing on a residential street.
During a press conference, Miami Beach Police Department Chief Ray Martinez also said Bieber, 19, acted "belligerent" toward police when first stopped him around 4:11 a.m. in a rented Lamborghini, and consistently dropped F-bombs while being questioned. After he allegedly kept resisting police instructions, Bieber was placed under arrest for a charge of resisting without violence, Martinez said.
According to a police report, investigating officers said Bieber was making "slow, deliberate movements" and had "a stupor look on his face." He was estimated to be speeding at between 55-60 mph in a residential zone with a 30 mph limit. Police said Bieber failed a field sobriety test and later took a Breathalyzer, but the results of that test were not immediately released.
Martinez said the singer would be charged with DUI, having an invalid Georgia driver's license, and resisting arrest without violence. Also arrested for suspected DUI was R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff -- known by his first name Khalil -- who was driving a Ferrari on the same street as Bieber.
The nearby Opa-locka Police Department was reportedly investigating an unauthorized police escort of Bieber, a local news station reported.
2. Captain & Tennille to Divorce
The '70s husband-and-wife singing duo Captain & Tennille are reportedly splitting up after nearly 40 years of marriage.
The couple -- comprising Daryl "Captain" Dragon, 71, and Toni Tennille, 73 -- released numerous hits including Love Will Keep Us Together, Do That To Me One More Time and Muskrat Love.
According to ABC News, Tennille filed for divorce from Dragon on January 16.
In recent years, a neurological disorder had prevented Dragon from playing music as well as he once had.
"[His condition] causes him to have tremors ... pretty severe at times," Tennille blogged in 2010. "Some days he does pretty well ... other days his playing is severely compromised."
